Renteria has been sidelined since August 3 with a sprained right ankle. He returned August 22 against Cincinnati, but tweaked the injury and was placed back on the DL on August 23.

Despite missing what amounted to the team's last 31 games, Renteria entered play Friday second in the NL with his .336 batting average, with 11 home runs and 53 RBI. Philadelphia's Chase Utley leads the league with a .341 average.
